Cats - $15
All animals adopted from the Mitchell County Animal Control shelter
must be spayed or neutered.

Description of Services:

• Pick up stray dogs & cats in Mitchell County. The cities of Baconton, Camilla, Pelham, and Sale City have adopted a Leash Law Ordinance. There is no ordinance, at this time, outside the city limits. Anyone losing a pet should contact Animal Control as soon as possible.
• Provide adoptions for stray and unwanted dogs and cats.
• Investigate dog bites. A Dangerous Dog Ordinance is in force for all of Mitchell County.
• Investigate rabies reports. All dogs and cats are required to have an up to date rabies vaccination and tag.

Cats in Trees
Mitchell County Animal Control does not rescue cats stranded in trees. In most cases, they will come down on their own. Encourage the cat down with some smelly food at the base of the tree, like sardines or tuna fish, or call a local tree service; they have the proper equipment to safely rescue a cat.

Pets in Cars
NEVER leave pets in a parked vehicle for any length of time. The temperature can reach 120 degrees in a matter of minutes, even with the windows cracked. Dogs & cats can’t perspire and every year animals left in parked vehicles die from heatstroke or suffer brain damage.
